Brian Poole finds football that was taken from him after pick-6

Jets cornerback Brian Poole found his football that was taken from him after he scored a pick-6 in the Jets’ win over the Raiders.

The search for Brian Poole’s pick-six ball is over.

Poole posted on Twitter Tuesday night that his ball that was taken from him after he intercepted it and returned it for a touchdown has been found. The play halfway through the third quarter when Derek Carr threw a pass that was tipped and landed in Poole’s hands, who took it to the house to give the Jets a 34-3 lead.

On Monday, Poole posted to Twitter that he was searching for the person who had the ball and would exchange it for a signed jersey. A New York City strip club also offered VIP access to every Jets home game for life in exchange for the ball. There’s no telling what motivated the ball thief, but the pigskin is back in Poole’s possession.

The 27-year-old Poole is having the best year of any Jets cornerback. In 11 games, Poole has 50 combined tackles, one safety, five pass defenses and the pick-six.

It was a special moment for Poole, as he had never had a pick-six in his NFL career until Sunday. That one will surely go in his trophy case.

Jets waive Jamey Mosley, sign Wyatt Ray to practice squad

Just several weeks after rediscovering a home on New York’s practice squad, linebacker Jamey Mosley is a free agent once again.

Several weeks after rediscovering a home on New York’s practice squad, linebacker Jamey Mosley has found himself in a familiar spot as a free agent.

Mosley has spent most of his collegiate and professional career chasing the success of his older brother, C.J., who signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the Jets this past offseason. The Alabama product entered the league as an undrafted rookie before attempting to land a roster spot with New York in camp.

Though failing to withstand the team’s final rounds of cuts, narrowing the roster from 90 to 53, Mosley was quickly extended an offer to join the Jets’ practice squad. With only 10 spots available to each NFL franchise, New York elected to release their star linebacker’s younger brother to make room for Bronson Kaufusi on Oct. 7.

A few weeks of regular season play would pass before the Jets were faced with another complication at the linebacker position. After suffering a season-ending injury, New York placed Blake Cashman on injured reserve, bringing up Frankie Luvu and voiding his place on the practice squad. With a new hole to fill, the team brought Mosley back on Nov. 1.

Fast forward another several weeks and, yet again, Mosley has found himself on the chopping block. The Jets announced that they released the Alabama product to make room for another linebacker, Wyatt Ray, on Nov. 25.

Coming out of Boston College, Ray went undrafted before finding a home with the Cleveland Browns. That stay, however, would be short-lived, as the linebacker has been struggling to land on his feet ever since.

Ray has been cut by the Browns, Texans and Bills in his short time in the NFL. While experience is lacking in the 23-year-old, Ray will have to impress with potential if he hopes to find a permanent position with the Jets.

Jets felt ‘disrespected’ by Raiders fans booing them

Jets safety Jamal Adams took notice of Raiders fans ahead of Sunday’s 34-3 win.

Jets safety Jamal Adams took notice of Raiders fans ahead of Sunday’s 34-3 win.

Adams told the media after the game that the Jets felt “disrespected” by Raiders fans booing them in their own building. They decided to go into the locker room to talk about it and it clearly lit a fire under them.

“They came in a little too happy, they thought this was just gonna be an easy game,” Adams told reporters.

You can understand where Raider fans were coming from thinking this game was going to be easy for them. The Raiders came into the game riding a three-game winning streak, while the Jets had a couple of soft wins over two of the NFL’s worst teams.

But you have to give the Jets credit for responding and putting a stomping on the Raiders. The Jets outplayed them in all three phases of the game and proved that those two wins against the Giants and Redskins weren’t a fluke. The Raiders have their flaws, but at the end of the day they are a team that is in the playoff hunt, so this one meant a little more.

If you’re the Jets now, you have keep this wave going. You can’t follow up a solid win over the Raiders with a bad loss to the Bengals next week. It would be typical Jets to play down to the competition and lose. The Jets can’t look over the Bengals like the Raiders did the Jets.

Sam Darnold is Jets Wire’s Player of the Game vs. Raiders

Another week and another strong performance from Sam Darnold as the Jets took care of business against the Raiders with a 34-3 win.

Another week, another strong performance from Sam Darnold.

The quarterback and the Jets took care of business against the Raiders Sunday with a 34-3 win. Darnold torched the Oakland defense all game long, going 20-29 for 315 yards and three total touchdowns (one rushing). He had a quarterback rating of 127.8.

For his performance, Darnold is Jets Wire’s Player of the game for the second consecutive week.

Darnold’s play over the last few weeks has really picked up. He’s done a nice job making all the necessary throws and still making plays outside the pocket. Most importantly, Darnold is not turning the football over. Instead of forcing the ball into areas where Darnold has nowhere to throw, he’s actually throwing the ball away. In his last three games, Darnold has thrown for 838 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception.

But when talking about Darnold’s play of late, you can’t forget to mention the job Adam Gase has done. Ever since Darnold went to Gase a few weeks ago and talked about the play calling, everything has changed. Gase has played to Darnold’s strengths and the quarterback is making the plays. This offense could barely put up any points earlies this season; Gang Green has now put up over 30 points in its last three games.

It’s extraordinary what this quarterback can do when he has a coach that is calling plays that makes him feel most comfortable. The jury was still out on Darnold if he was as good as everyone thought he was. Those critics have gone silent over the past few weeks.

Darnold’s confidence is clearly back and the entire offense is rolling because of it. He’ll have a couple of more favorable matchups over the next two weeks against the Bengals and Dolphins, which should allow him to keep this hot streak going.

Jets vs. Raiders: Game info, where to watch, notes

Here’s everything you need to know for Sunday’s game between the Jets and Raiders.

The Jets are looking to keep their winning streak alive when the Oakland Raiders come to MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The weather conditions are not expected to be great in East Rutherford, as the forecast is calling for a cold and rainy day. That means both teams are going to have to adjust their gameplans accordingly.

If the forecast stays true to rain, then we’re going to see a lot of Le’Veon Bell running the football. He was slightly better last week against the Redskins, but not where he’d like to be at this point in the season. Assuming New York turns to a run-heavy attack, Week 12 will serve as another opportunity for the star tailback to get break out.

Defensively, the Jets have to stop Josh Jacobs on the ground and force Derek Carr to throw the football. Jacobs has been one of the league’s best rookies this year running behind a solid Raiders offensive line that has carried them to a 6-4 record. Luckily for New York, it has the No. 1 run defense in the league, which will make things tough for the young running back.

As for the Raiders, they’ve been quite the surprise this year. Oakland is right there in the playoff race can’t afford a letdown loss to the Jets. However, the Raiders have had their road struggles this year with only one road win on the season.

Here’s everything you need to know for Sunday’s contest:

Jets release Valentine Holmes from practice squad

The Jets have released Valentine Holmes from their practice squad.

Valentine Holmes was a nice story when he first signed with the Jets, but his tenure with the team is now over.

The team announced on Friday that it had released Holmes from the practice squad. He has decided to go back to Australia to play in the National Rugby League.

Holmes was signed by the Jets through the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program and served as the 11th player on the practice squad. He hoped to make the active roster next season, but it didn’t look like it was going to happen.

The 24-year-old played in all four preseason games and had 11 carries for nine yards as a running back and eight catches for 85 yards as a receiver. On special teams, Holmes had a 21-yard kick return.

Since Holmes was technically the 11th man on the practice squad, the Jets can’t sign anyone else to take his spot.

Jets injury report: Chuma Edoga, Kelvin Beachum questionable vs. Raiders

Chuma Edoga and Kelvin Beachum are both listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

After an initial injury scare with both Chuma Edoga and Kelvin Beachum, both should be good to go on Sunday against the Raiders.

Edoga (ankle/knee) and Beachum (ankle) are listed as questionable, as Edoga was limited in practice the last two days after not practicing on Wednesday. Beachum was limited the whole week. Meanwhile, Henry Anderson (shoulder), Brandon Copeland (hip/thumb), Neville Hewitt (neck/knee), Alex Lewis (elbow/shoulder), Steve McLendon (neck) and Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) are all questionable, but expected to play.

Darryl Roberts (calf), Mathias Farley (quad) and Paul Worrilow (quad) are listed as doubtful. C.J. Mosley (groin) is out as expected.

Sam Darnold credits Jets locker room for bouncing back after 1-7 start

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold gives credit to the players in the locker room for responding from a 1-7 start.

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold praised the locker room for how the team has been able to bounce back from a 1-7 start to the season.

The Jets could’ve easily mailed it in for the season after the first eight games, but Adam Gase has done a good job keeping the team together and playing hard. While Darnold is giving Gase credit for that, he believes the players in the locker room are the ones continuing to put in the work and trying to win every week.

“We got such good guys in the locker room,” Darnold told reporters. “The coaches do a great job of making sure that we all stay together and they do a great job to continue to work hard and gameplan, but everyone in that locker room is set on winning.”

Under former head coach Todd Bowles, effort was sometimes a problem. It didn’t necessarily happen over a long stretch of games, but here and there you’d see the Jets clearly not care about a game. It’s good to see that this hasn’t yet been a problem under Gase, despite all the issues that he’s had with players so far in his first season.

As for the players, there’s definitely a belief among them that they can win football games consistently. But with the amount of bad luck the Jets have had with injuries, it has made it more difficult to win games.

Now that the Jets are getting some players healthy again, you’re starting to see glimpses of this team playing well. Obviously, the last two games have been against the bottom feeders of the league, but you still have to go out and execute.

If the Jets can continue to build on these wins, there should be some more confidence heading into next season.

Jets RB Le’Veon Bell calls out NFL for repeated drug tests

Jets running back Le’Veon Bell called out the NFL for drug testing him five times in the last 10 weeks.

Jets running back Le’Veon Bell has had enough of the NFL’s drug-testing program.

Bell lashed out on Twitter on Wednesday morning, calling out the league for randomly drug testing him five times in the last 10 weeks. He then said he’s not doing any more drug tests for HGH because he has passed them every single time and doesn’t like needles.

Bell then spoke to the media about it on Wednesday afternoon. He continued to tell reporters that he is not a fan of needles and instead would rather drop his pants and pee in a cup. Bell understands that drug tests are a part of his job, but he is starting to get suspicious of the system.

“Is it random, though?” Bell asked. “Why do I feel like every time they’re here doing an HGH testing, I get picked?”

Per the NFL collective bargaining agreement, players are not subject to more than six tests a year. So while Bell is upset about getting picked, the league and the players union are well within their right to test Bell five times in 10 weeks. If Bell were to be picked for another test and refuse, he would be subject to discipline from the league.

“If we got to cross that bridge when we get there, then we got to cross that bridge when we get there,” Bell said.

The 27-year-old running back was suspended for two games back in 2015 for  DUI and marijuana possession charges. The next year, he was suspended for three games for missing a random drug test.

Now, Bell’s biggest issue is the method, not the fact that he’s been tested so many times. He was very clear about his disdain for needles.

“I’m not doing it no more,” he said. “They’re not getting no more of my blood.”

Adam Gase unsure if C.J. Mosley will return

Jets head coach Adam Gase is not sure if C.J. Mosley will play again this season.

[jwplayer CyWAa1YN-ThvAeFxT]

Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley might not be back on the football field until 2020.

Adam Gase spoke to the media on Wednesday and was asked what Mosley’s status is for the rest of the season. Gase said he doesn’t really have an answer to that and that Mosley is going through the process of his rehab. The initial diagnosis was that Mosley would be out at least six weeks, but groin injuries are tricky. He suffered this injury back in Week 1 and tried coming back in Week 7, but ultimately re-injured his groin.

In other injury news, both Chuma Edoga (ankle/knee) and Darryl Roberts (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. Kelvin Beachum (ankle) was limited.
