The NBA’s 2019 first overall draft pick hasn’t put a shot up from the hardwood during a game yet. But it looks like Zion Williamson is at least headed in that direction after he was spotted putting up shots on the Pelicans’ practice court Tuesday.
ESPN’s Andrew Lopez shared a video of Williamson shooting after the team’s practice. While the video doesn’t show the rookie’s lower body or his exact movement in the area where he underwent surgery, it is still a good thing to see following the injury and procedure.
The former Duke sensation underwent surgery on Oct. 21 to repair his right meniscus. The initial estimate for how long the coveted rookie would be rehabbing was set at six to eight weeks.
Monday (Dec. 16) marked exactly eight weeks from Williamson’s surgery date, confirming what the New York Times reported, that “there was resignation in some corners” about the 19-year-old playing before 2020. New Orleans (6-21) is in the midst of a franchise-record 12-game losing streak.
