We’re talking to Utah football expert Matt Nigbur of the No Truck Stops Pac-12 podcast about the big Utah-USC showdown this Saturday.
We asked Matt how Utah and Kyle Whittingham will approach USC’s offense.
Nigbur’s answer:
“I think the approach will be to try and get pressure with four, run their staple man coverage on the edges, and then try and do some confusing things with the safeties and linebackers. If Utah can handle the run with five, I would expect to see Cole Bishop move up in the box and be responsible for Caleb Williams scrambling and try to be a game wrecker otherwise. As we said earlier, though, I don’t think this approach will be all that successful. I think Utah will have to commit more to stopping Travis Dye, and then hope that Clark Phillips III can create come magic in coverage. Daring this USC offense to throw the ball is a dangerous game, but stopping the run HAS to come first.”
