Svi Mykhailiuk on joining the Boston Celtics, his role with the team

“I feel like it’s a great opportunity,” said the Kansas alum. “I feel like it opens up more opportunity for guys who play my position and my role which is come out and shoot the ball.”

Fans of the Boston Celtics may not know much about new Boston wing Svi Mykhailiuk, but the Kansas alum has been enjoying his time with his new ball club and said as much in a recent interview with Mitch Lightfoot and Chris Teahan of “Rock, Chalk, Unplugged” podcast fame. “It’s been great,” said Mykhailiuk.

“They’ve been historically a really good team in basketball — it’s all honor to be a part of this organization and them being interested me to bring on board and to play for them,” offered the Ukrainian forward of his new team. “I’m really excited to be here.”

Mykhailiuk noted he had only been in town for a bit at the time of the interview, but was getting to know the city. He’s also impressed with his new teammates.

“I feel like it’s a great opportunity,” said the Kansas alum. “I feel like it opens up more opportunity for guys who play my position and my role which is come out and shoot the ball.”

Guys like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, they put so much pressure on defense, which opens up a lot a lot of opportunities for a guy like me.”
