The Super Bowl is over and the focus now turns to next year’s game, Super Bowl LV to be played on February 7, 2021 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Outside of the fact that it will be played on my 60th birthday, this game might have little meaning to me (or any other Giants writer) if the oddsmakers have their way.
According to BetMGM, the Giants are long shots to win next year’s Super Bowl and that’s putting it kindly.
They are currently +7000 to win the game, which for those who don’t wager means a $100 bet on the Giants will yield a $7,000 return. The Jets are also +7000.
The two MetLife Stadium co-tenants aren’t the longest shots on the board, however. Detroit is +7000, Arizona +7500, Jacksonville +8000, Cincinnati +10000, Miami +10000 and Washington rounds out the field at a whopping +15000.
Kansas City is the favorite at +650 with Baltimore (+700) and San Francisco (+900) close behind.
The Giants are such long shots due to their very poor records the past three seasons — 3-13 followed by back-to-back 5-11 seasons. No one is disputing that, either. The only way to change the narrative on this legacy of losing is to start winning. Stay tuned for that.
My advice is if you hate money, throw a Benjamin on the Giants.
