Kevin Durant doesn’t regret leaving Golden State for the Brooklyn Nets.

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant has made a lot of decisions in his career that have sent NBA Twitter ablaze. Most people know that Durant is unafraid of addressing people on Twitter and that he doesn’t hesitate to respond to someone who criticizes him or says something that he disagrees with.

Ever since Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors after the 2015-2016 season, everything that he has done has been questioned regardless of the result. However, the one thing that remains is that Durant isn’t unafraid of leaving a team to find a better situation.

Despite most people disliking Durant going to the Warriors, he had his greatest success with the team as he won two championships with the franchise. It appeared that the constant criticism was getting to Durant and as a result, led him to leave the Warriors for the Brooklyn Nets after the 2018-2019 season to partner with Kyrie Irving in pursuit of a title.

Things did not work out in Brooklyn as the furthest that Durant and Irving made it in the postseason was the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals in 2021 before losing in seven games to the Milwaukee Bucks. After that, the Nets were swept in the first round of the following season by the Boston Celtics and this season, both players requested trades around the deadline and were subsequently moved to their respective teams.

Even though the Durant-Irving era is viewed as a failure for all parties involved, Durant has never said that he regrets his decision to leave Golden State for what he thought were greener pastures. Durant did an interview with Fox Sports on Thursday and he’s what he had to say about if he regrets his decision to go to Brooklyn:

“Hell, no. I don’t regret anything I do. I don’t regret my time in the league because I feel like I maximize every day as a player. I feel like I get the most out of myself every time I step on the floor. So, it’s like regardless of the results and the wins and losses, I can live with that part of it. I would never say anything I do is a failure. We could lose 82 games in a season, but if I come to work and every rep is done with intention and with force, every rep I can live with.”
