Browns running backs coach Stump Mitchell took to the Zoom channel and held a teleconference with reporters prior to Thursday’s practice session. With his prodigious beard barely contained by one of the largest masks possible, Mitchell handled several questions about the state of his position group.
Mitchell was quickly asked about the status of his star player, Nick Chubb. The third-year RB suffered a concussion in an unfortunate tackle in practice earlier this week at the hands of LB Mack Wilson, who has since been sidelined with a knee injury of his own.
“He’s in meetings,” Mitchell said of Chubb. “He’s doing, I would say, extremely well … he’s not having any problems in terms of headaches or anything like that. It’s just a matter of time before he’s (back in practice).”
It’s a positive update on Chubb’s status. Whether the team puts him back onto the practice field or saves him for the regular season remains to be seen.
