Storylines in the Texas-West Virginia game to observe

The Texas Longhorns and West Virginia game has plenty of intrigue. Both are looking to stay the course in their pursuit of the Big 12 title.

The Longhorns continue to play with their backs against the wall

After starting out the season 2-0 with a blowout victory over UTEP and narrowly escaping Lubbock, Texas with a victory the team dropped two-straight. The last one coming against the Oklahoma Sooners, Herman’s record against Oklahoma dropped to 1-4. Texas faced a must win situation against the Baylor Bears.

During the bye week, more and more whispers and rumors surrounded the future of Herman as the head coach. The Longhorns needed a win to stay in the race for the Big 12 Championship. Texas responded with a 27-16 victory in which they led 27-3 heading into the fourth quarter. Again they faced a challenge with the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys. It had been a decade since the Longhorns beat a top 10 team on the road. They prevailed, but the question is can they do it again?
