It’s been a frustrating past few years for [autotag]Darren Till[/autotag], but he still has his sights set on the prize.
Till (18-4-1 MMA, 6-4-1 UFC) recently had to withdraw from his July UFC Fight Night 208 co-main event against Jack Hermansson in London due to a leg injury, the fourth time he’s had to pull out of a fight in his past five bookings.
The former title challenger is currently helping his teammate, Khamzat Chimaev, train for his UFC 279 headliner against Nate Diaz on Sept. 10 and is hoping to fight multiple times before the end of the year as he tries to set up a championship run in 2023.
“We’re a few weeks in to getting back,” Till told ESPN. “Khamzat’s fully in camp now for this fight with Nate Diaz, so I’m like in camp helping him, but I’m in camp for myself to come back. The body’s never 100 percent, but I’m coming back what I used to be like – healthy and fit and ready to get a world title, get some wins in. Massive fight against one of the best strikers in the division, so this is all just about getting back now.”
He continued, “I’d say in a few months time, I’ll be ready. I want to have two fights by the end of this year. Two fights, and then next year’s a big year. The comeback is on.”
Till has lost four of his past five bouts. His most recent setback came in a third-round submission loss to Derek Brunson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 191 in September 2021.
