After months of rumors, [autotag]Stewart-Haas Racing[/autotag] has confirmed the inevitable. On Tuesday evening, Stewart-Haas Racing announced that it will shut down after the 2024 NASCAR season. This means Josh Berry, Noah Gragson, Chase Briscoe, Ryan Preece, four NASCAR charters, and hundreds of employees are set to hit the open market.
This is a dark day for NASCAR, as Stewart-Haas Racing has been a regular presence in the Cup Series. Tony Stewart won its first Cup Series championship in 2011, while Kevin Harvick earned its second in 2014. Meanwhile, Harvick also has the last Cup Series win at Richmond Raceway in 2022. Cole Custer won the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2023.

Stewart-Haas Racing hasn’t been as competitive with the NextGen car as Ford hasn’t been on the same level as Chevrolet and Toyota. Now, the NASCAR team will close its doors at the conclusion of the 2024 season. This is a dark day for NASCAR, but one that sets the wheels in motion for the next era of racing in the Cup Series.
