The University of Texas is mourning the loss of former Longhorn Jaden Hullaby.
The Hullaby family reported Jaden missing on Sunday evening. His younger brother Landon, a defensive back at Texas Tech, announced Jaden’s death via Twitter on Monday morning.
Hullaby was a member of Texas’ 2020 recruiting class and spent his first two seasons on the defensive side of the ball. Shortly after a position change to running back, Hullaby entered the transfer portal and committed to New Mexico in the summer of 2022.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff spent a little over a year with Hullaby in Austin. Sarkisian released a heartfelt statement on Monday following the tragic and sudden news of Jaden’s passing.
“It’s such devastating and tragic news to hear of Jaden’s passing. He was a great person and someone we all enjoyed being around, coaching and spending time with. All of our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates, and we want to send our deepest condolences to them in such a difficult time.”
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
