Steve Kerr’s Team USA cruises past Puerto Rico, 117-74, in pre-FIBA World Cup showcase

Steve Kerr helped coach Team USA to a dominant 117-74 win over Puerto Rico in Las Vegas before the FIBA World Cup.

Steve Kerr was back on the sideline on Monday evening in Las Vegas with Team USA as they get ready for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Before heading to the Philippines for the FIBA World Cup, Kerr is coaching Team USA in five showcase games. The first came on Monday against Puerto Rico.

After leading by seven at halftime, Team USA came out swinging in the second half, outscoring Puerto Rico, 34-18, in the third quarter. Team USA locked down defensively in the final frame, allowing 13 points in the fourth quarter on their way to a dominant 117-74 win in Sin City.

Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Broolyn’s Cam Johnson each tallied 15 points to lead Team USA. Five other members of Team USA registered double-figure scoring efforts. New York’s Jalen Brunson secured a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in 22 minutes.

Next up for Kerr and Team USA will be Luka Doncic and Slovenia in another pre-FIBA World Cup showcase game on Aug. 12 in Spain.
