Steve Kerr wants the Warriors to show more grit

Steve Kerr wants this years Golden State Warriors team to develop some girt and connectivity.

At times this season, the Golden State Warriors have found themselves losing games from winning positions. Other times, the team has lacked energy and aggression, especially on the defensive end. As such, Golden State is 11th in the Western Conference and on a three-game losing streak. The team’s latest loss came against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

When speaking to the media following Saturday’s game, Steve Kerr discussed how the Warriors need to start showing more grit and begin approaching their season with a desire to win every game and play for each other. He wants them to have one collective goal.

“I love the guys on this team,” Kerr said. “We have a really good group. I think they have a good chemistry. They get along well. But, we haven’t found that grit that every good teams needs, where you pull together and you play for the group. We’re not there, and that’s a problem. … Until this team really connects in a way that is solely dedicated to winning each and every game, then we’re going to be stuck in this place, so we need to get there.”

The Warriors haven’t had the easiest season. Multiple players have been working through slow starts. Others have dealt with injuries or suspension. However, as the halfway point in the season draws closer, it’s clear the Warriors need to figure things out sooner rather than later.

Golden State will get an opportunity to put its season back on track when it faces the Orlando Magic on Tuesday. However, that game will not be an easy one; the young Eastern Conference team has impressed with its style of play and talented young core.
