Stephen F. Austin at Memphis: Three things to know
- The Lumberjacks head into this one on a six-game winning streak, all against fellow FCS opponents. They opened on a three-game skid, falling 24-14 at UTEP on Sept. 5, 24-10 at UTSA on Sept. 19 and 50-7 at SMU on Sept. 26, all FBS foes.
- Memphis narrowly edged South Florida 34-33 last time out on Nov. 7, coming nowhere close to cover a 17.5-point number. While the Tigers are 4-2 SU, they’re just 1-5 ATS with their lone cover as 3-point dogs to UCF in a wild 50-49 win at the Liberty Bowl on Oct. 17.
- The Tigers offense has been on the move, rolling for 509.8 total yards (14th in the nation), 354.7 passing yards (5th) and 33.2 points (41st) per game. Defensively they have struggled, allowing 519.0 total yards (121st) and 374.8 passing yards (124th) while allowing 35.7 points (98th) per game.

Stephen F. Austin at Memphis: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Memphis 45, Stephen F. Austin 17
Money line (ML)
Memphis (-5000) should easily push past their FCS foes from Texas in this one, but risking $50 for every $1 won isn’t a good betting strategy. AVOID.
Against the spread (ATS)
STEPHEN F. AUSTIN +31.5 (-110) is a little bit of a risky play, as the Tigers offense can score with the best of them, but still, the Memphis defense is a sieve. The Tigers have allowed some poor offenses to stay very close, especially last week against a subpar USF side. And remember, the Tigers are 1-5 ATS overall. SFA has covered in one of three games against FBS opponents this season, the UTSA game back on Sept. 19.
Over/Under (O/U)
OVER 58.5 (-115) is the lean in this FBS-FCS matchup, but play it lightly. Memphis has gobbled up huge chunks of real estate this season, and also ceded large chunks of yardage to its opponents, too. Stephen F. Austin is averaging 36.0 PPG in the past five games, albeit against FCS-level opponents. Still, the Memphis defense isn’t much better.
