Stephen A. Smith ‘sincerely hopes’ the Nets call Kyrie Irving’s bluff

TV personality Stephen A. Smith sounded off on the Kyrie Irving-Brooklyn Nets contract fiasco.

As the Brooklyn Nets talks with superstar Kyrie Irving remain at an impasse, ESPN TV personality Stephen A. Smith shared some thoughts on his hopes on the situation.

Following the news that Irving is increasingly more interested in being shipped somewhere else and listing his preferred destinations, it’s safe to say that the basketball world has their eyes on the situation.

Smith sat down and discussed the situation during the NBA Draft last night and “sincerely hopes” that the Nets call Irving’s bluff.

What I will say is this, I sincerely hope the Brooklyn Nets call his bluff. This is a man who sat up there and said, ‘I’m never leaving my brother Kevin Durant.’ This is a man that missed half the season due to the New York City vaccine mandate. This is the man that’s missed 123 over three years, but still has the gall to be shocked when it’s not a guaranteed $200+ million deal waiting for him. What I say to the Brooklyn Nets is this; Kevin Durant is here, you have a player option at $36.9 million waiting for you, this is supposed to be your brother who you swore you’ve never left, who you haven’t been there for since you arrived when it’s really counted. Are you gunna just leave Kevin Durant high-and-dry like that?
