The NBA made it a point over the offseason that officials would begin cracking down on players standing on the court while they shouldn’t be, either in an attempt to distract an opponent or as a result of excessive celebration.
During the Warriors’ dominant win over the Timberwolves on Sunday, the new directive resulted in a pair of technical fouls being called on Draymond Green and Stephen Curry in the waning moments of the game.
With 1:19 left in the fourth quarter, Green was assessed a technical foul after he hopped a few steps onto the court in celebration of a shot from Jordan Poole.

In the final minute, seemingly in protest, Steph Curry wandered onto the court and began waving a towel after a Donte DiVincenzo 3-pointer, and was quickly assessed a technical.

Green called the situation “ridiculous” after the game.
“I didn’t affect the play. There’s no one near me. So… it sucks. And the fact that that’s going to count against my tech count, like, come on. It’s ridiculous.”
