The Boston Celtics are the eighth most popular team in the NBA in terms of merchandise sales for the second half of the 2020-21 season according to the New York Times’ Marc Stein, and their cornerstone player — All-Star forward Jayson Tatum — sports the league’s fifth most popular jersey in terms of overall sales.
The top teams ahead of Boston in merchandise sales over that period are in order the Los Angeles Lakers with the top spot, followed by the Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. Tatum, in turn, finds himself behind only LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic in jersey sales for the period in question.
Tatum is trailed by Devin Booker and Stephen Curry, and Boston by the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors in terms of jersey and overall merchandise sales, respectively.
