Steelers release WR Ryan Switzer. Cuts coming.

Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers waived wide receiver Ryan Switzer on Saturday.
The deadline for teams to cut rosters to 53 was Saturday at 4 p.m. Because Switzer has less than four years of experience, he’s subject to waivers and can be claimed by any team between now and noon Sunday.
If Switzer clears waivers, he becomes an unrestricted free agent, and it’s always possible the Steelers snap him back up. After all, he is Ben Roethlisberger’s best friend. It sounds petty, but that usually accounts for something.
In two seasons with Pittsburgh, Switzer logged just 280 receiving yards and one touchdown. His contributions came mainly via special teams with 1,054 return yards on 77 attempts.
On Friday, head coach Mike Tomlin tabbed wide receiver Diontae Johnson as punt returner.
