Steelers vs Texans: Pittsburgh’s dominance over rookie QBs put to the test this week

The Steelers are 23-4 against rookie quarterabcks under Mike Tomlin.

This week the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Houston Texans and rookie quarterback CJ Stroud. Stroud is currently fifth in the NFL in passing yards and is averaging 300 yards passing per game. Pretty remarkable for a rookie but Stroud has shown great poise and command of the Texans offense as well as a great connection with fellow rookie Tank Dell as the team’s top receiver.Stroud will face his toughest test of the season on Sunday.

The Steelers boast the best duo of pass rushers in the NFL with T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith but Stroud also has to deal with some ominous history.

As head coach of the Steelers, Mike Tomlin is 23-4 going against rookie quarterbacks. But honestly, after watching Stroud play this season, that might not mean as much. Stroud was the most maligned of the big three quarterbacks but quickly quieted those critics. He will have his work cut out for himself with injuries at offensive tackle against that ferocious Pittsburgh pass rush.
