Steelers sign former Notre Dame linebacker

Mike Tomlin must have liked what he saw….

Former Notre Dame linebacker Jamir Jones has a new professional home as he’s officially signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jones played in 55 games between 2016-19 at Notre Dame, finishing his senior campaign with 50 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Jones went undrafted before signing a rookie free agent deal with the Houston Texans last spring but was waived before the regular season.

Since Jones had his pro day canceled due to COVID-19 last year he was able to participate in Notre Dame’s pro day last week, an event that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin attended.

Jamir is the younger brother of Jarron Jones, a former Notre Dame defensive lineman who now plays on the Steelers offensive line.
