Something doesn’t make sense here. We were all there when the Pittsburgh Steelers traded up to the No. 14 pick to select former Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones. A player we all assumed was drafted to be the team’s franchise left tackle.
And this was all done because the starting left tackle for the last two seasons, Dan Moore Jr. hasn’t been very good. But maybe we aren’t seeing what offensive line coach Pat Meyer is seeing.
Meyer talked to the media on Wednesday after minicamp practice and had some high praise on the development of Moore.
“From his rookie season to last year, he’s improved just as much as anybody I have ever been around, Meyer said.” The Steelers drafted Moore in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft and he was forced into the starting lineup as a rookie.
No team can ever have enough offensive tackles so we aren’t complaining about what Meyer said. If Moore has improved enough to win the left tackle spot again this season and beat out Jones, so be it. The focus of this team should be to put the five best guys on the field.
