Steelers HC Mike Tomlin on Trai Turner ejection: ‘Someone spit in his face’

Mike Tomlin obviously didn’t agree with Trai Turner being ejected.

There was an ugly exchange in the fourth quarter between Pittsburgh Steelers guard Trai Turner and Las Vegas Raiders Solomon Thomas. The skirmish happened just after Steelers running back Najee Harris scored a touchdown and it led to both players being flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

However, Turner was also ejected from the game. Unfortunately, the only video of the incident showed the last few seconds when it seemed fairly clear that Turner ran up and spit at Thomas. According to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, what sparked such a response was someone, presumably Thomas spitting in Turner’s face.

Without video this is all just conjecture but this feels a lot like the guy who retaliated getting caught. It wouldn’t shock me in the least if Thomas did spit in Turner’s face, hence the reaction. But if the officials only see your part in it, you have to live with the consequences.
