Steelers G David DeCastro has been fined $14,037 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct for his role in Myles Garrett incident. The NFL told DeCastro “peacemaking” or coming to aid of a teammate is not considered an excuse for a rules violation. He will appeal the fine.

Of all the players who were disciplined for their part in the brawl two weeks ago, I did not expect Pittsburgh Steelers guard David DeCastro to be a part of it. But his role to keep the peace between the Steelers and Cleveland Browns at the end of the game cost him $14,037 according to the NFL.
DeCastro plans to appeal the fine and probably should have it waived. DeCastro served as a buffer between Mason Rudolph and Myles Garrett when the scrum got going and once Garrett pounded Rudolph in the head with his helmet, took Garrett to the ground to try to end the melee.
The Steelers are just days away from the rematch with Cleveland. I’m sure the impetus for such stiff fines all around was to head off a repeat performance this week.
