For whatever reason, EA Sports seems to struggle with consistency when it comes to player ratings for Madden NFL 24. There’s no better example than how they treated Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt.
Watt is the No. 4 edge rusher in the newest Madden with a 94 rating. When I first saw this, it made sense when you consider that Watt missed seven games last season on IR and finished with 5.5 sacks.
But then I saw this. Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle was once again part of the 99 club this season. And at first, I didn’t give it a second thought. Honestly, I don’t pay much attention to Donald during the season but I assumed he had put together another spectacular season.
Not so fast. Donald, like Watt, was injured last season. He missed six games himself. And only finished with five sacks for the season. Yet he didn’t seem to take any sort of hit on his rating based on a seriously down year, like what happened to Watt. But the folks at EA didn’t feel the need to penalize Donald the same way. What other explanation can there be than a bias either for Donald or against Watt?
