Live to fight another day. This seems to be the motto of the Pittsburgh Steelers for much of the 2022 season. With Pittsburgh’s 13-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Eve, the team improves to 7-8 and keeps the hopes of the streak alive.

What streak is that? Since head coach Mike Tomlin took the job in 2007, he has never had a sub-.500 season. On its own, this is one of the more remarkable streaks in the league when you consider just how hard it is to win year after year in the NFL.

Granted, the job isn’t finished by any means and the Steelers need to win the last two or at worst get one win and one tie to keep the streak alive but hope remains. And truth be told, this streak matters to the players. This might not be the year Pittsburgh makes a deep playoff run but keeping Tomlin’s streak alive is part of what is pushing them. Pittsburgh travels to take on the Baltimore Ravens next week and wraps up the year at home against the Cleveland Browns.
