Steelers add 2 to practice squad

The Steelers round out their practice squad with a quarterback and safety.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced a pair of moved on Tuesday to their practice squad. With Paxton Lynch working as the backup quarterback this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers needed a third quarterback. For this they have signed T.J. Barrett. And with one more spot on the practice squad open they also signed safety Tray Matthews.

Barrett played his college football at Ohio State University. He went undrafted in 2018 but has been with the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks. With Barrett’s athleticism, he should make a great scout-team quarterback to simulate Robert Griffin III.

Matthews played his college ball at Auburn. Matthews has spent tie with the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.
