Status of Auburn star guard remains uncertain one day before USC game

.@TheAuburnWire is staying on top of this story heading into Sunday’s game vs #USC.

We’re paying attention to the health status of Auburn guard Wendell Green Jr., a key piece of the Tiger roster heading into Sunday afternoon’s big basketball game against USC.

Our friends at The Auburn Wire are staying on top of this situation.

Here is what they’re reporting nearly 24 hours before tipoff (2:30 p.m. in Los Angeles) on Sunday afternoon:

“After suffering an ankle injury late in the second half of Auburn’s 72-64 win over Georgia State on Wednesday night, guard Wendell Green Jr.’s status for Sunday’s game at USC is unclear according to Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl,” Auburn Wire wrote.

“He will make the trip, and we’ll just evaluate him,” Pearl said on Thursday. “I think the issue there would be that flight going out there Friday if he was to practice and aggravate that thing. We really won’t know until probably Saturday or Sunday.”

If Green can’t play on Sunday, Auburn would likely ask freshman Tre Donaldson to play point guard.
