The Oklahoma Sooners are a favorite in a football game for the first time in a long time. That can only mean there’s not a lot of confidence that Missouri quarterback Brady Cook plays in this one. If that’s the case, veteran Drew Pyne steps in to start for the Tigers.
Missouri has a talented wide receiver duo in Luther Burden and Theo Wease that can create problems for the Sooners’ defense regardless of who’s throwing the football.
The Tigers’ defense is only allowing 17 points per game this season, but in matchups against Alabama, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt, they’re allowing 35.3 points per game. Those offenses have been better and more consistent than the Sooners. At the same time, OU has been trending in a positive direction in the last couple of games, and if Cook isn’t starting for the Tigers, the game shouldn’t get away from the Sooners offense.
It’s going to come down to how effective the Sooners are running the football. If they can keep the offense in favorable down and distances, Jackson Arnold and the offense should be able to move the chains.
With Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq listed as probable on the Thursday injury report, OU’s offense will get a boost in the passing game with a pair of players who know how to create after the catch.
Oklahoma 27, Missouri 14
