Wainwright has been in good form this season, going 4-1 with a 2.91 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 46 1/3 innings.

  • Wainwright suffered his first loss of the season in his last start despite allowing just three runs over six innings.
  • Wainwright has faced the Brewers 42 times in his career, going 17-10 with a 2.45 ERA in those appearances (35 starts).

Woodruff is 2-3 with a 3.40 ERA and a whopping 67 strikeouts in 53 innings.

Prediction

Brewers 4, Cardinals 3

Money line (ML)

The Brewers (-154) have taken two of the first three games of this series, while limiting St. Louis (+140) to seven total runs. Milwaukee erupted for 18 runs Tuesday night but should retreat back down to Earth Wednesday in Game 1.

Still, they’ll beat the Cardinals again in a lower-scoring affair. Take the BREWERS (-154) to win the first game of the doubleheader.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Brewers are favored in this one, coming in at -1.5 (+155). While I like Milwaukee to win, this game is likely to be close again like the first two games of the series.

Take the CARDINALS +1.5 (-189) to cover the small spread in a close loss.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is only 5.5 runs in this seven-inning game. After seeing the first two games of the series feature just eight total runs, it’s understandable that the total would be set lower.

Despite that fact, I’m taking the OVER (-115).
