For years, the San Antonio Spurs have built their culture on hard work and winning. From Tim Duncan to David Robinson, their star players haven’t been the type to bask in the spotlight. And while Victor Wembanyama may not seek out said spotlight either, he’s definitely going to be thrust into it.
The 2023 first-overall pick is built to be a superstar, and he already seems like one on and off the court. On the court, he’s a 7-foot-5 freak set to be a generational talent. And off the court, his media training and fun disposition make him a lovable personality already.
Wembanyama hasn’t played in an NBA game yet, and he’s already getting celebrity treatment around the city of San Antonio. El Weinecero, a famous hot dog cart located in downtown San Antonio off East Houston Street and Broadway, has named a dog after Wembanyama already.
They’ve dubbed it the Wembynaso.
Jeph Duarte of Pounding the Rock dove into the specifics of the dog:
“The Wembynaso is an all beef frank wrapped in bacon and topped with sautéed onions, crispy fried onions, drizzled with Gruyere cheese sauce and served with a pickle spear slice on an 8 inch French baguette,” Duarte wrote.
