Blake Wesley played basketball for much of his career in Indiana and the San Antonio Spurs rookie finally had the opportunity to face his hometown team on Thursday.
Wesley was born in South Bend and played in high school at James Whitcomb Riley High School in town. He eventually committed to play in college at Notre Dame and was named to the All-ACC second team last year as a freshman.
He did not play with the Spurs in the first meeting of the season against the Pacers in Indianapolis but had the opportunity to face them on Thursday. He helped the Spurs to the 110-99 win with eight points and three rebounds off the bench.
Wesley also had the chance to link up with George Hill.
He played on Hill’s AAU team when he was younger and finally had the chance to face off against him in the NBA. They swapped jerseys after the game.

Wesley has played sparingly this season in San Antonio and has even spent time in the G League with Austin. However, he has been in the rotation over the past month or so and looks to be settling in on the court after logging consistent playing time.
He is averaging 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and two assists in 11 games since entering the rotation on Feb. 3. He continues to look more comfortable on the court and believes those minutes in the G League helped prepare him for the opportunity.
With the Spurs in their rebuild, the final 19 games of the season should be a great chance for the team to get a closer look at Wesley and the rest of the young players on the team.
