Sports Illustrated casts off Gators from NCAA Tournament bubble

Florida needs some key wins to climb back on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

It has been tough times of late for Florida’s men’s basketball team, which has lost three games in a row as their opportunities to improve their NCAA Tournament resume continue to dwindle. The nadir of the season came on Saturday when the Vanderbilt Commodores came into the O’Connell Center and handed the Gators their first Quad 3 loss.

That brutal defeat popped Florida’s tournament bubble, sending it sliding off the major bracketology updates into oblivion. Among those was Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney’s projected brackets, which previously had the Gators among the First Four Out following their loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. But now with the Vandy upset in the books, the Orange and Blue are nowhere to be found.

Next up for Florida are the Ole Miss Rebels, who come to Gainesville to take on the Gators inside the O’Connell Center on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST and can be either watched on the SEC Network or heard on the Gator Sports Network.
