Special teams ace Charles Washington re-signs with Cardinals on 1-year deal

Washington returns to the Cardinals for a fourth season, inking a one-year deal.

The Arizona Cardinals have brought back another player from last season. The team announced that safety and special teamer Charles Washington signed a one-year deal to return to the team.

Washington has been with the team since 2019.

He was claimed off waivers before the 2019 season after he was cut by the Detroit Lions.

He has been a core special teamer since then and has been the Cardinals’ top punt gunner.

He had four special teams tackles last season in seven games. He spent most of the season on injured reserve.

In 2020, he had a career-high 13 special teams tackles to go along with a forced fumble and three tackles on defense.

Washington has played five seasons in the NFL, three with the Cardinals and two with the Lions.
