SPECIAL DELIVERY: Saquon Barkley’s new shoes are a big gamble for Nike, but here’s why it’ll pay off

The Air Trainer III can’t fail

Once upon a time, NFL players were big in the sneaker game.

You had Bo Jackson’s Air Trainer series, Deion Sanders with the Diamond Turf series, Marshall Faulk with the Air Barrage. Michael Vick and Randy Moss even had their own signature shoes at one point.

That doesn’t really happen anymore. You don’t see NFL players with signature sneakers at all — let alone player exclusive shoes. It’s extremely rare. The volatility there between sudden roster changes and potential injury risk makes having NFL signature athletes tough.

That’s why Saquon Barkley’s new Air Trainer III is a pretty big gamble on Nike’s part.

Despite recent history, though, I think it’s a gamble that will ultimately pay off. I explain why in this week’s episode of Special Delivery. You don’t want to miss it.
