Spain watched as Slovakia’s goalkeeper punched the ball into his own net just last week at Euro 2020.
And now, they had an awful own goal of their own courtesy of their goalkeeper, Unai Simon.
While facing Croatia in the Round of 16, a defender sent the ball back to Simon … and completely whiffed on handling it after it bounced off his foot. The ball went straight past him and into the net, and of course Croatia’s fans went nuts.
That’s just brutal. Spain equalized the score 18 minutes later, which probably helped cushion the blow of this mistake, but … man, this isn’t good.

Genuinely thankful Spain equalized. In this era of social media, the harrowing deluge that would have been cruelly dispatched Unai Simon's way is unfathomable

Playing in goal can be the loneliest job in the world.
A freak own-goal, that saw Unai Símon mis-control a Pedri back-pass, has given Croatia the lead in Copenhagen.
There's still a long way to go yet though!#LLL
