Sore Loser? Sooners DB says Texas didn’t ‘earn’ blowout win

The No. 1 Texas Longhorns dominated Red River rival Oklahoma over the final three quarters, but OU DB Billy Bowman doesn’t think the Horns ‘earned it.’

As a two touchdown underdog, the Oklahoma Sooners had a dream start to the Red River Rivalry. Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers threw an interception on the first drive, then the UT offense stalled on the next two. But even with the wind, the Sooners couldn’t capitalize, scoring a mere three points in the first quarter.

Once the game moved to the second quarter, it was all Texas. The Longhorns marched 75-yards for a TD to take the lead. Then forced two fumbles and scored two touchdowns in the quarter to take a commanding 21-3 lead into the halftime locker room.

After the first quarter, the No. 1 Longhorns dominated the game in all three phases. But Sooners DB Billy Bowman doesn’t see it that way. He told the press after the game that Oklahoma that Texas didn’t earn it, the Sooners gave it to them.

“Just opportunities. We just gave it to them. As a defense we’re better than that like coach said. We take full accountability, especially me and Danny (Stutsman). But end of story, we gave it to them. In my mind, they didn’t earn what they got shortly after that interception.” — Oklahoma Sooners DB Billy Bowman.

Bowman also had a lot to say before the game as well, claiming “They not ready” as he got off the bus.
