SOFTBALL: Gammill, Haff Honored By The SEC

Sophomore third baseman Hannah Gammill and senior pitcher Mary Haff were among the SEC Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Two of Arkansas Softball’s key pieces are getting some attention from the folks in Birmingham.

Sophomore third baseman Hannah Gammill and senior pitcher Mary Haff earned player of the week honors, the league announced Tuesday following a perfect 3-0 weekend in Virginia.

Gammill has been named SEC Player of the Week after providing offensive firepower in three weekend games, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate with three home runs and seven RBI. The sophomore now has 10 home runs and 28 RBI, leading the team in both categories.

Haff being named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week was sheer perfection.

In the 6-0 win over Maryland last Friday, Haff recorded the first perfect game in Arkansas history. She did so by striking out two-thirds of batters faced, recording a season-high 14 punchouts. In Thursday’s game at Liberty, Haff struck out four batters on 2.0 innings of relief.
