In front of a primetime television audience, Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Isiah Pacheco certainly opened some eyes on the national level. The former Rutgers football star produced some strong runs as the Chiefs won 41-31 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After logging just five snaps last week (three carries, nine yards), Pacheco ran angry and with a purpose on Sunday night for the Chiefs. He had 11 carries for a career-high 63 yards but it was the hard, aggressive style that won him fans throughout the night.
A former All-Big Ten selection at Rutgers, Pacheco often had difficulty showcasing his skillset and ability behind an offensive line that was being rebuilt and revamped. But despite the rebuilding effort going on around him, Pacheco did credit head coach Greg Schiano and the Rutgers program for helping develop and prepare him for the NFL.
In his NFL debut, a Week 1 blowout win of the Arizona Cardinals, Pacheco had 62 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
