With Sue Bird and Ted Lasso in the audience, No. 4 Iowa couldn’t disappoint.
And they definitely didn’t. The Hawkeyes rolled past Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon, 99-65. Senior guard Caitlin Clark led five Hawkeyes in double figures with 24 points as she connected on 10-of-20 shots despite going just 2-of-11 from 3-point distance. Clark collected another double-double as she dished out 11 assists and reeled in seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, graduate guard Kate Martin had a fantastic day, scoring 17 points, grabbing five rebounds, assisting three times and blocking three Falcon shots.
It also included a career performance from junior guard Sydney Affolter. She finished a perfect 7-for-7 shooting to register 14 points. The Chicago native also came away with three steals, three assists and four rebounds.
Redshirt junior center Sharon Goodman recorded her first career double-double, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and pulling down 11 rebounds as well. Junior center Addison O’Grady was the final Hawkeye in double-figure scoring with 10 points.
Iowa ended up shooting 66.7% as a team in the game, while limiting Bowling Green to 34.3% shooting and just 25.8% shooting from beyond the arc.
With another sellout crowd in attendance, Iowa made sure it was a fun Saturday matinee for Hawkeye fans inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. For those that didn’t make it, they were having plenty of fun on social media, too.
