The annual Florida-Georgia game is finally upon us and there’s no shortage of buzz surrounding the game as kickoff approaches.
Fans from both teams have taken to Twitter to talk their respective smack, but here at Gators Wire we’re only interested in what the Florida faithful has to say. Fans might not be expecting a win against the top-ranked team in the nation, but it’s always a heated contest when these two programs meet.
A year ago, Florida kept pace with Georgia until a disastrous end to the first half put things out of reach. [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] was responsible for three turnovers in the final few minutes of the second quarter, and Georgia scored each time to make it 24-0 at halftime. A single fourth-quarter touchdown wasn’t nearly enough for Florida to threaten any sort of comeback, and the Gators fell by a 27-point margin.
This season, UF enters the game as a 23.5-point underdog to its bitter rival. The first year of the Billy Napier era in Gainesville has certainly had its ups and downs, but an upset win over No. 1 Georgia would make Napier’s first year an unquestioned success.
Here’s a look at what Florida fans and experts are saying ahead of the big game.
