The Philadelphia 76ers head to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday on the second night of a back-to-back. The Sixers look to bounce back from a loss on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers at home.
After playing 41:02 on Tuesday and due to the fact he is dealing with a variety of injuries, Joel Embiid will not play in Wednesday’s matchup with the Timberwolves. The Sixers are calling it left hip soreness.
Embiid is averaging 31.9 points, 11.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists to begin the season. He’s the engine that drives the machine in Philadelphia, and the Sixers have to rely on others to step up and produce in his place.

In Embiid’s place, one has to assume Paul Reed will start and play a major role. One also has to assume Mo Bamba could get his first real look of the season given the injury to Embiid.
The Sixers and the Timberwolves tip off at 8 p.m. EST from Target Center.
