Sixers to be without Joel Embiid in New Year’s Eve matchup with Pacers

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without Joel Embiid against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in Indianapolis on New Year’s Eve to take on the Indiana Pacers as they look to bounce back from two disheartening losses in Florida to begin a four-game road trip. They will have to battle on Tuesday without their superstar big man.

Joel Embiid, who has played in seven straight games after missing a game in Brooklyn, will miss the game with left knee soreness. The big man is averaging 23.7 points and 12.4 rebounds after a big game of 35 points and 11 rebounds against the Miami Heat on Saturday. His absence will move Al Horford over to the center spot for the game.

Embiid had a big game against Indiana back in November when he led the Sixers to an impressive win over the Pacers. For Philadelphia to come away with this one on Tuesday, they will need others to step up in his place offensively.

Tipoff from Bankers Life Fieldhouse is set for 3:00 p.m. EST.
