Sixers superstar Joel Embiid named starter for 2022 NBA All-Star game

Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid has been named a starter for the 2022 All-Star game.

Philadelphia 76ers superstar big man Joel Embiid has been having himself a terrific season as he is averaging 29.0 points and 10.8 rebounds on the season and has the Sixers sitting at No. 6 in the East despite a lot of adversity thrown their way.

The 29.0 points he averages are good for third in the NBA as he has taken plenty of steps forward as a player. At his size, he can handle the ball, he can shoot it from mid-range and from deep, he can knock down free throws, and he is almost unguardable at this point of his career.

On Thursday, Embiid was named an All-Star for the fifth straight season for the 2022 All-Star game in Cleveland. Embiid will join Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Trae Young, and DeMar DeRozan in the lineup.

For Embiid, he now only trails Allen Iverson, Dolph Schayes, and Julius Erving for the most consecutive All-Star starts in Philadelphia history. Iverson had seven, Schayes had eight, and Erving had 11.

Embiid and the Sixers will look to continue to build some momentum on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers at home. Philadelphia needs to continue to climb up the standings in order to not only build his MVP case, but to also get home-court advantage in at least Round 1 of the playoffs.
