Sixers star Joel Embiid ranked as the 2nd-best center in the league

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is ranked as the 2nd-best center in the entire league.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is one of the elite players in the league. The big fella is coming off an impressive MVP season in which he led the league in scoring at 33.1 points per game along with 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

He can score at all three levels. He is an elite defender. He is improving as a passer, and the scary part is he’s only going to get better. Embiid is one of the best players in the NBA.

HoopsHype has ranked the top 24 centers in the league and Embiid comes in ranked second behind only Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

HoopsHype on Embiid:

After leading the league in scoring for the second year running, Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid finally won league MVP honors in 2022-23 following back-to-back second-place finishes, a well-earned honor, even if we don’t believe he’s the best center in the NBA today. Embiid can do it all, scoring as a post-up option or when facing up, able to shoot threes, possessing great athleticism, quickness and the skill level as a ball-handler to fully leverage those physical gifts into elite production nightly. He’s also an elite defender, especially near the rim, blocking nearly two shots nightly last season and anchoring what was a Top 8 Philadelphia defense.

The only thing holding Embiid back now is the lack of success in the playoffs. He needs one healthy playoff run to give him a chance to go deep in the playoffs and have the success Jokic has had in Denver.
