Sixers star Joel Embiid discusses apparent leg injury suffered in loss to Heat

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid discusses the apparent leg injury he suffered in a loss to the Miami Heat.

The Philadelphia 76ers took another loss at home as they fell to the Miami Heat 101-96 where they saw themselves trailing by as many as 23 before a furious rally got them back into the game. They tied the game up at 96, but Miami’s Gabe Vincent then hit the go-ahead shot.

What’s even more worrisome for the Sixers is that star big man Joel Embiid fell awkwardly in the second half and he was on the ground for a bit after getting tangled up with Heat guard Kyle Lowry. Embiid finished the game and had 17 points and 14 rebounds, but the big fella admitted that the injury was a bit painful.

“It was pretty painful when it happened,” said Embiid. “I don’t know what, I looked on TV, but it was pretty painful.”

When asked if it was his ankle he replied: “Ankle, yeah.”

It does sound like the apparent leg injury is more serious than the right rib injury that held him out for Monday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The big fella is not worried about that injury in the slightest when asked about it after the game.

“It’s the same,” he said succinctly. “I mean, I’m fine.”

The Sixers now have to travel to New York to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday so this is a tough time for the big fella to suffer an injury.
