Sixers star Ben Simmons ranked fifth-best player under the age of 25

Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons is ranked as the fifth-best player under the age of 25.

With the NBA season stuck in a suspension due to the outbreak of COVID-19, it is that time to rank the top players in the league and duos to try and occupy all of our minds until sports can return.

In this edition, we take a look at First Things First’s Nick Wright’s list of the top 10 players in the league under the age of 25-years old. There is a large number of talented players in this league and a lot of them are still young and developing.

The Philadelphia 76ers possess one of those talents in Ben Simmons who at 23-years old is one of the better players in the league. He is averaging 16.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists this season while being named an All-Star for the second consecutive season.

Despite those accomplishments, Wright ranked Simmons fifth on his list of the top 10 under 25. He is behind rookies Zion Williamson and Ja Morant as well as second-year sensation Luka Doncic and fellow third-year player Donovan Mitchell.

It’s hard to really agree with this list as a whole. If you want to rank Simmons fifth, then fine, but behind Williamson and Morant? Meanwhile, guys like Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns, Trae Young, and Jayson Tatum are all ranked in the back half of the top 10? Those players are All-Stars. This whole list is just preposterous.
