Sixers rookie Matisse Thybulle says Tobias Harris is like a ‘big brother’

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Matisse Thybulle praised Tobias Harris for his leadership.

In the NBA, it is essential to have veterans around to take the younger guys under their wings and help them evolve in the league. For the Philadelphia 76ers, they have many guys like that, but specifically for rookie Matiss Thybulle, he has a close relationship with Tobias Harris.

After Harris praised Thybulle as amazing following a much needed 110-104 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, Thybulle heaped his own praise on Harris for helping his development in his rookie season.

“Aside from being an amazing example, he’s been like a big brother. We sit next to each other on every flight, he’s constantly giving me advice, I seek him for all my questions. Whether it’s financially, on the court, off the court, I go to him and he’s done it at a very high level for a while now and I really look up to him in that sense and he’s been able to be a huge role model for me.”

Thybulle has praised Harris for his leadership in the past and Harris himself has taken it upon himself as being a leader. He has taken guys like Thybulle and Furkan Korkmaz and others under his wing and he has wanted to step up and take on more of a leadership role in Philadelphia.

“I think overall, we’re having a lot of guys step up,” he said. “It’s kind of uncommon when you see a rookie come off the bench and propel us to this win and make shots like that like Matisse did tonight and it speaks volumes about what type of player he is and the potential that he has. Also, on the defensive end making plays and being able to be a stopper out there.”

The Sixers hope that this chemistry that Harris and Thybulle are growing together can take steps forward and help the team as they head down this championship road. [lawrence-related id=20901,20880,20863]
