Sixers rookie big man Filip Petrusev impresses in Turkish league game

Philadelphia 76ers draft-and-stash forward Filip Petrusev balled out in a Turkish league preseason game Friday for Anadolu Efes.

The Philadelphia 76ers may well have found themselves an intriguing player in the second round. The No. 50 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Filip Petrusev, showed out overseas Friday.

The 6-foot-11 forward dropped 23 points and picked up six rebounds in a Turkish league preseason game for Anadolu Efes Friday.

Petrusev spent the Summer League with the Sixers, scoring a total of 17 points and swatting eight shots in four games.

He averaged 23.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in Serbia, while shooting 41.9% from deep on three attempts per game. He interestingly did not take a lot of threes while at Gonzaga, just 41 attempts in his two years, but his shooting in Serbia suggests could be an option for a shooting-hungry Sixers team down the line.

The 21-year-old spent two years at Gonzaga under head coach Mark Few before making the move overseas with Mega Basket in Belgrade, Serbia. He went to high school in the United States as well, splitting time between Monteverde Academy and Avon Old Farms.
