The Philadelphia 76ers were looking to add Jrue Holiday to the fold after the Milwaukee Bucks sent Holiday to the rebuilding Portland Trail Blazers in the big Damian Lillard deal.
The Blazers didn’t have much of a need for the All-Star guard as they look to build around young players Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe. Therefore, contenders lined up for Holiday.
The Sixers were looking to acquire Holiday, but the Boston Celtics swooped in. The Cs are sending big man Robert Williams III, veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon, a 2024 first-round pick of Golden State’s and a 2029 unprotected first-round pick from Boston.

The Celtics bringing Holiday in will add to Boston’s talent pool at the guard spot. He’s an elite defender, a guard with championship experience and he will help run the offense for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
As for the Sixers, they still have to figure out the James Harden situation as other teams in the East load up for a run at the title.
