The Philadelphia 76ers made their mark early in free agency when they signed three free agents. The biggest one was PJ Tucker, but two other signings improved roster depth.
Danuel House Jr. was brought in on a reported two-year $8.5 million deal, and he is expected to provide a needed 3-and-D presence. He shot 41.5% from deep in 25 games for the Utah Jazz in the 2021-22 season, and he is expected to bring that type of shooting to Philadelphia.
He is also a physical player who can bother the hell out of his opponents on the perimeter. That will be a welcomed addition to this Sixers team.
Bleacher Report gave out their grades for Philadelphia’s free agency signings and the House Jr. addition received an A-minus:
Over 25 games with the Jazz, he was back to being his 3-and-D best. He not only splashed 41.5 percent of his long-range looks, he also tallied 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per 36 minutes.
House’s low-maintenance, high-energy game is perfectly suited to support a star. If he’s a plus shooter from three (he was pretty average the previous two seasons), he could be a real find.
House Jr. is going to be an important piece of the team’s bench and in certain lineups with James Harden. The veteran guard has played with Harden before with the Houston Rockets, and he shot 41.6% from deep in the 2018-19 season next to Harden that season.
